For over 50 years, WWF has been a leader in whale and dolphin conservation.

WWF’s Protecting Whales and Dolphins Initiative is a global conservation programme, working to enhance shared learnings and tackle the problems of bycatch, shipping impacts and habitat loss/degradation, which are increasingly threatening cetacean survival.

An estimated 300,000 whales, dolphins and porpoises are killed each year as a result of fisheries bycatch. Populations are impacted by increasing ship traffic and the loss of important habitats impacted by climate change, crucial for their survival.
